Buzzards Bay Center > A derelict 12,000 sf historic warehouse was completely renovated and re-purposed to create the new "green" headquarters for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, an environmental non-profit in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The building is located within the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, thus subjecting the design to strict historic rehabilitation guidelines. This education center contains offices, a meeting room, a library, a laboratory, and public exhibits. The design features a high-performance envelope with historically accurate windows, a vegetated roof, and 3.6 KW of solar electric panels. Photograhy by Peter Vanderwarker.
